Scorers : Paterson (43), Alberts (72,75,82,90)

Formartine's 18's continued their one hundred percent start to the season with a convincing victory over Deveronvale. The game was played at Macduff with manager Jim Beaton making three changes from the Hermes game with Nadji and Nesbitt coming in after impressing from the bench previously and Bisset replacing Corbett in goals.

Formartine started the game the better team, controlling possession and speed of play. Having created numerous chances to take the lead, many were squandered through a combination of poor finishing, some inspired saves from Vale's number one and a good old penalty box stramash contributed to the scores remaining level. With all their endeavour, Formartine finally took the lead just before the break. A cross from Alberts was spilled by the Vale keeper, after being pressurised by Beaton. Aaron PATERSON was on hand to find the bottom corner with a fine side footed finish.

The second half continued in much of the same vein with Formartine limiting Deveronvale to long range efforts whilst continuing to attack at every opportunity in search of the second killer goal. It took until the 72nd minute to double Formartine’s advantage. Some superb attacking play on the right side led to a corner. From the set piece ALBERTS fired home from the edge of the box, leaving the Vale keeper no chance. Soon after it was three. Fine play from Paterson, close control and a defence splitting ball to ALBERTS who then caught the opposing goalkeeper off guard to place the ball in the far corner. In the 79th minute, Deveronvale pulled a goal back against the run of play, a cross from the left was whipped into the box with Formartine’s centre back unlucky not avoid contact as the ball nestled in the net. This proved just to be a consolation effort though.

The setback did not deter Formartine and only 3 minutes later they increased their advantage again. Carr drove forward in midfield, played the pass to Alberts who instinctively found Newlands. Superb awareness and a clever backheel from Newlands returned to ALBERTS who made no mistake with a stunning curling effort from around 20 yards. A 10 minute hat-trick!  ALBERTS was to make it four on the night, heading home from a Buckle cross in the final minute.  Formartine’s win keeps them nicely within touch of pacesetters Dyce and Inverurie Locos whilst keeping their one hundred percent record.
