Formartine United 6-1 Ross County

Sunday, July 22nd, 2018

In an edgy first half where honours were shared at 1-1, United moved up a gear in the second period scoring five goals to win this game comfortably.

United were given a fright as early as the 4th minute when the visitors Greg Morrison fired the ball into the corner of the net to give County the lead. Summer signing Ryan Stott scored his first goal for the club by hammering home a low drive inside the penalty area on 17 minutes.

The young County side showed their pace going forward and provided a threat and were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions. The sides went in at the break all square at 1-1.

Three goals in a blistering five minute second half spell put Formartine firmly in command. Graeme Rodger netted after 54 minutes, followed by a brace from Archie MacPhee on 56 and then 59 minutes. Conor Gethins added a fourth on 73 minutes before Liam Burnett completed the scoring 7 minutes from time.

In the end a comprehensive victory against a decent County side.
