Formartine United U18’s 6 Hall Russell United U18’s 1

Scorers: Brody Alberts (33, 60, 63), Kooper Richardson (38), Branden Beaton (53), Aaron Buckie (87)

Formartine’s 18’s recorded their 7th straight victory in the League with a convincing win against their Hall Russell United counterparts to keep the pressure on pacesetters Inverurie Loco’s and Dyce.  Brody Alberts was again on the mark, with his third hat-trick of the season while goals by Richardson, Beaton and sub Buckle completed the scoring for the home side with the visitors replying with a penalty. The home side controlled the majority of the game, restricting the visitors to the odd foray into Formartine territory.  With Captain Kooper Richardson controlling the midfield, ably assisted by Aaron Paterson and Branden Beaton, the only surprise was that it took until just over half an hour for Formartine to take the lead with the home side going close several times from a series of corners and well worked moves.  Indeed it was a corner that the opener came from in the 33rd minute with Richardson working short corner with Carr before whipping a ball to the back post where ALBERTS nodded home from close range.  5 minutes later it was RICHARDSON that extended the lead when he was left unmarked at the back post to head home a Paterson cross from 6 yards.

Branden BEATON increased the lead in the 53rd minute when he flicked the ball past the keeper from 6 yards from an Alberts cross from the right. ALBERTS was on target again on the hour mark when he controlled the ball in the box and surrounded by defenders somehow spun, found half a yard of space and despatched a drive into the net for the fourth from ten yards.  ALBERTS completed his hat-trick three minutes later after a clearance evaded the Hall Russell defenders head allowing the striker a free run into the box where he rounded the advancing keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. His third on the evening taking Brody to 17 goals in Formartine’s 7 league fixtures to date – a remarkable tally.

Hall Russell’s did pull one back in the 85th minute when the referee awarded them a penalty for a Wardrop hand ball from a cross from the left. The penalty was coolly stroked to the Corbett’s left, sending the keeper the wrong way.  Two minutes later Formartine regained their five goal advantage when substitute Aaron Buckle after a Watson cross into the box was controlled by Davidson, passed back to BUCKLE at the edge of the box with time to shoot past two defenders and past the keeper to complete the scoring.
