Matthew Cooper signs on at North Lodge

Formartine United FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Matthew Cooper on a pre-contract agreement, which will see him join the club at North Lodge upon the expiry of his current deal with Elgin City FC, subject to SFA approval.

The experienced 31-year-old returns to Formartine United following a successful loan spell in December 2025. He began his youth career with Aberdeen FC before moving into the professional ranks with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2012.

He later joined Elgin City in 2014, where he went on to become club captain in 2022 and made over 300 appearances for the Black and Whites.
